A long time ago, there was an old foreman cowboy who delighted us with his anecdotic stories while enjoying lonely nights with a few drinks. One of the stories that caught my attention was that of Yatasirama.
This character was the product of a terrible nightmare that tormented the cowboy, who felt how someone scratched his door with long, sharp hooves as if they wanted to tear out his guts.
One night, tired of fear, he was brave enough and opened the door. It was Yatasirama, a tall, imposing, masculine shadow, who repeated his name incessantly and wrapped his hands around the helpless warlord, who had no choice but to surrender to the will of a deep sleep, from which he never awoke.
Story or legend, the truth is that I still wonder if Yatasirama wanders the shallow collecting souls of lonely men who remained tied to these ground or consumed by the mangrove.
Watch out! Don’t open the door. It could be Yatasirama announcing he is coming back.
